These are some pictures I took while being in taxis and buses in Bucaramanga.
Here, we enter in the bus at the door next to the driver and we pay him the ticket. While he is driving, he is paying back to people...A bit dangerous! Then, we get off the bus by the door at the back (In Juiz de Fora, Brazil, its the opposite).

The traffic in Colombia is a bit crazy...I think colombian people drive really bad! I dont understand how the number of accidents doesnt increase X 1000 times each day...

I want so much to go to a Casino! They are prohibited in Brazil since the 50s...

I also went to see some Vallenato classes (colombian rhythm). To learn more about vallenato:

With the help of the journalist Andres Gomez, Ive started my work in Public Relations to Fundación Mujer y Hogar. We ve been interviewed lively by the local tv station, and also by a radio that is heard in some places in Colombia, Canada, Mexico and Miami. I thought it would be harder for me to be interviewd in spanish, but I actually understand everything really well. Sadly, Im forgetting portuguese...

I went out to have some fun with my boss¨friends. 1st, we went to a pub where they could exchange some gifts for the Love & Friendship day (20th september) and where I could try some tequila and michelada (beer, lemon juice and salt). Learn more about michelada: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelada

Then, we went to this club called Duplex and danced til 4 am: salsa, merengue, vallenato, pop, techno, samba... We had a lot of fun!

Arriving at Colombia

On the 18th September I started the trip that would change my life. After so many problems with Aiesec about getting my visa, with Atopic Dermatitis all over my body and hope in my heart, I said goodbye to mum, dad, my sisters Louise & Pamela, and my pets Nino & Pipita. In 30 minutes, I said goodbye to everybody I could and caught a bus to Rio de Janeiro. Everything done in a hurry.

That week had been a lot stressful because of Aiesec. I thought I would not go to Colombia anymore when, on the 17th, I got an e-mail saying I should be in Colombia on the 20th, as predicted before. So, at the other day in the morning I bought my bus tickets to Rio de Janeiro and some medicine to take with me to Colombia. In the afternoon, I got my lugage done and, at night, I traveled to Rio de Janeiro. On my way to the bus station, a song from Colombia started to play on the radio - something really rare. I had just left my family at home, with tears in my eyes and a lot of worries in my head. "Will it be nice in Colombia? Will my parents sell our house when Im in Colombia? Will they move away with my dog and my bird to a city where I cannot live? Where will I live in Brazil when I get back? Will Pamela get married while Im in Colombia?". All these questions were in my head...But when I heard the song, I knew I was doing the right thing with my life.

Dad took me to the bus station and hugged me quickly, just like a "see ya later". I got inside the bus and tried not to think about those questions I listed above. But I was not succesful at all... When I arrived at Rio de Janeiro, my boyfriend Edmar picked me up. I finally got to know where hes been living in Rio & met some few places of the city. I must get used to Rio: probably it will be the next place where I ll live.

Edmar was a great boyfriend and helped me a lot about this trip. We both knew about the hard cimscurstances in which I decided to take the trip, but we did not let pessimism take control of us. Thank you, my love!!

I woke up at 1 a.m.to take the flight Rio de Janeiro - Sao Paulo at 5.30 a.m.. I was a lot stressed and saying goodbye to Edmar was really hard. At the waiting room, I noticed a group of businessman speaking in spanish, so I wondered if they would go to Bogotá (Colombia), as me. The 1st flight was fine, it was my 1st time on a plane. Well, I thought it would be better than it was... It was just so normal and boring...

The flight to Sao Paulo lasted 1 hour. When I arrived at the Guarulhos Airport, in Sao Paulo, I got lost. So, I followed those businessmen and started to talk with them. This is how I met Mario, a worker from Ecopetrol. He helped me in taking the flight to Bogotá and then to Bucaramanga.

The flight to Bogotá lasted 6 hours and there were 02 electrical problems. After a while, I thought I was going to die.... The only thing that was in my head was "I cant believe Im going to die at the age of 22, going to Colombia to do social work, to help the world!". Fortunately, I arrived in Bogotá safely. Although I was told at the check-in and by a air hostess that I should only pick up my lugage at Bucaramanga, it was Mario who told me the opposite...I almost lost my lugage!! It s incredible how passangers know more than airport workers!! THANK YOU A LOT, MARIO!

Then, I had to take a bus to the other side of the airport, so that I could take the flight to Bucaramanga. While I was in the bus queue, I started to talk to this man, who then helped me taking the right flight by inviting me to the VIP area of the airport! hahaha GREAT!

The flight to Bucaramanga was really quick, less than an hour. A lot of turbulences, but its ok...
When I arrived at Bucaramanga, there were 03 people from Aiesec waiting for me. It was a really fast meeting: some hugs, some pics, and thats all. My bosses arrived 03 minutes later, to pick me up. After getting to know a bit of the place where Id work, they took me out to eat something: I was starving!

It was a long hard trip...But a good one.
